Nikon Camera Conversions

One of our first conversions where the original internal hot mirror filter that stops infrared light is removed and replaced by an infrared (720nm) filter that allows most infrared and little normal light through. As a compact it has a 28mm lens that is quite adequate for most infra-red landscapes.

The Nikon 5400 is especially good when combined with the Nikon wide-angle WC-E80. The focal length of the camera’s lens is then reduced by × 0.8, maximizing lens angle when the camera is zoomed all the way out taking its normal 28mm to 22.4mm.

This all Nikon combination produces Stunning Infrared Photos - an excellent choice for Infrared Landscape or Architectural Photography. We have mainly converted these cameras to 720nm and 850nm, although other wavelengths are quite possible.

The original camera specs: 5-megapixel CCD, 2,592 x 1,944 maximum optical resolution, shutter speed 1/4,000th second to 8 seconds, 50-400 ISO sensitivity, +/-2EV exposure compensation, auto-exposure bracketing, 4x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, 1.5in TFT LCD, built-in flash, program, manual, semi-auto, scene programs, matrix, centre-weighted, spot, AF spot metering, movie mode, lithium ion rechargeable battery, USB cable, neck strap. Dimensions: 108 x 73 x 69mm (W x D x H).
Weight: 380g (including battery card)

Other nikons that have been converted include models 5700, and 990
